27 November, Friday.
Today I woke up so early because my friend and family started calling me from early morning, asking was I ready for guests and for preparing food. I think Georgian dishes are so popular here because I found a lot of restaurants in Kaunas and Vilnius. Maybe for tourists, the first things that come to mind when talking about Georgian dishes are Khachapuri and Khinkali. But I wanted to make something new and I decided to make eggplants with walnuts and Skmeruli- chicken with garlic sauce. There is one Facebook group- about dishes and I asked there, what to prepare for my guest. Because it is not so easy to find Georgian ingredients here. I mean, spices.
I went shopping with Gintare. And then, with huge responsibility and a lot of walnuts, I started preparing. I want to say thanks to my Georgian flatmate- Tamo, who helped me. everything went as I've planed, but the taste of the dishes was much better than I expected. When I tasted it, it was like my grandma used to cook. I felt proud. I'm a Gourmet person, and I think taste has really strong power- it can define your attitude about a country for example. For now, Lithuania for me tastes like Gintare's homemade balandeliai. for my guests, it was the first time to try Georgian dishes and I hope they found out new things about my country.
